TOTAL NUMBER OF UFC EVENTS: 734
The Ultimate Fighting Championship put on one of its worst shows in recent memory, with the cherry on top the meaningful matchup in its main attraction getting nixed moments before it was set to go down. With few results to hang our hat on, and even fewer rankings-worthy offerings to go over, the slim and proper UFC Vegas 107 edition of Prime Picks starts now.
The Fight Is Over: At night’s end, just nine
fights took place at UFC on ESPN 68. This is the fewest number of
bouts to go down on a bill since UFC Fight Night 194 in 2021. Of
note, the last 10 fight cards featuring single-digit matches all
took place in the confines of the UFC Apex.
Call for Restoration: For medical reasons, Maycee Barber could not compete in the main event. This unfortunate cancelation is reminiscent of examples in the past like Stefan Struve suffering heart issues prior to facing Matt Mitrione, Jamall Emmers sustaining back spasms before his bout with Chas Skelly and the late Kevin Randleman slipping on pipes backstage ahead of his UFC 24 headliner.
Held Captive: In the de facto headliner, Mateusz Gamrot grounded Ludovit Klein six times as he laid claim to a unanimous decision win. Having taken down all 11 foes he has faced in the Octagon, Gamrot’s takedown total is now 49. Three 155ers landed more: Khabib Nurmagomedov (59), Clay Guida (65) and Gleison Tibau (84), all inactive.
Feeding Frenzy: Needing a bit over three minutes to get the job done, Ramiz Brahimaj rendered Billy Goff unconscious with a power guillotine choke. The Bronx-based athlete has performed all 12 of his wins by stoppage, with 11 of those coming via submission.
Mighty Blast of Rage: By running roughshod over Bruno Lopes in 110 seconds, Dustin Jacoby collected another knockout on his ledger. “The Hanyak” has recorded a knockout in each of his last four victories.
Duel on a Vanishing Planet: Because she could not reach the 136-pound limit, Ketlen Vieira forced the first women’s featherweight match in the UFC in nearly two years against Macy Chiasson. The promotion closed the division after Norma Dumont vs. Chelsea Chandler in 2023.
Nursing Wounds: Vieira went the distance with Chiasson, ultimately getting the nod on all three scorecards. Since 2020, the Brazilian has heard the final bell in each of her eight outings.
The Darkest Day: Dating back to the beginning of 2022, nine fights have officially taken place at 145 pounds for women in the UFC. Eight of those nine have gone the distance, with Stephanie Egger’s armbar of Ailin Perez at UFC Fight Night 209 the combo breaker.
Lesson Number One: Settling for a decision over Dusko Todorovic, Zachary Reese saw his stoppage rate fall to 78%. His two career decision victories have come in his last two UFC wins.
Nightmare Comes True: Missing weight before taking home a decision over Jafel Filho, Allan Nascimento became one of a small number of UFC fighters this year to come in heavy and still prevail on fight night. Not including Vieira, athletes that blew weight post a combined Octagon record of 3-9 in 2025.
A Handy Trick: Jordan Leavitt became the first lightweight in UFC history to land an anaconda choke that put a foe to sleep, laying out Kurt Holobaugh in 99 seconds. All of the other technical submissions via anaconda have taken place at featherweight, welterweight or middleweight.
Last Ditch Effort: En route to winning a decision against Rayanne dos Santos, Alice Ardelean connected with 154 significant strikes. This total places her in the top 10 among single-fight strawweight performances, joining Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Angela Hill and Weili Zhang—those three hold the remaining nine spots.
Saving Throw: Ardelean and dos Santos each pocketed an extra $50,000 after banging it out to start off the event. Their encounter is the first “Fight of the Night” among women since Natalia Silva beat Jessica Andrade at UFC Fight Night 242 in 2024.
The Games Begin: With the first fight of the night, Ardelean vs. dos Santos, earning FOTN, it becomes the first curtain-jerker to claim that bonus since Sasha Palatnikov collided with Louis Cosce to start off UFC 255 in 2020.
Never Say Never Again: Coming into UFC Vegas 107, Goff had never been submitted (12 fights), Holobaugh had never been put to sleep with a choke (31 fights, nine losses) and dos Santos had never dropped three straight (22 fights).
Deja Vu: An ultra-rarity for UFC walkout music, fighters picked songs from the same artist on two occasions. Three went with AC/DC—including Reese with “Shoot to Thrill” against Todorovic’s “Thunderstruck”—while two others picked Bon Jovi.
Trump Card: Making his walk to the cage accompanied by Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir,” Bruno Lopes became the first fighter since 2019 to select this legendary tune. In the past, Bobby Moffett picked it three times and Joe Gigliotti did twice—they combined for zero wins and a no contest when using it.
